Why and how I do what I do:
I’m entranced with the beauty I can uncover in natural stone. I emphasize the colors, patterns and contrasts buried internally. The stone is the singular focus of my efforts. No dyes or paints are used. I cut, grind, smooth and polish by manipulating the stone with my hands against simple machinery like saws, grinders and polishers. I feel my way through the process to bring out the best in each stone. It’s easy for me to get lost in this, and hours of work feel like minutes. A finished piece makes me feel like all is right in my little corner of the world. As a creative escape, I’ve found none better.
Other than necklace chains, I only sell what I make with my own two hands. No two pieces are identical. Every piece is an original pattern. Stone slabs, sourced from around the world, are my raw material. All finished pieces are stabilized internally with epoxy, and I use only sterling silver fittings. The uniqueness of my jewelry is in the reveal of the natural beauty of stone, presented in clean forms with minimal interference from surrounding material. This is a minimalist approach that emphasizes the unique patterns, colors and natural features, such as druzies, of semiprecious stone. The beauty of the stone is maximized.
